Boystown 2023: A Year of Transformation and Hope with MOD Movement
In 2023, the MOD Movement revitalized Manila’s Boystown Complex post-COVID-19, focusing on enhancing living conditions for both children and the elderly. Key projects included renovating a children’s shelter to accommodate 42 youths, upgrading living quarters, and modernizing communal areas like dining and kitchens. Additionally, for the elderly, the town hall was refurbished and the clinic expanded, providing improved facilities and comfort.
This year marks a significant milestone in our commitment to support and uplift the community. Our efforts were made possible by the invaluable support from our donors and the entire MOD community. We’re inspired by the impact of our work and remain dedicated to changing lives, one project at a time.
A Day Of Giving
The MOD Movement participates in an annual day of giving at Boystown. In 2016 we brought in a carnival for the kids and food and supplies for all the residents, as well as renovating the basketball court and purchased new sports equipment for the kids.
We believe that giving our time and making authentic connections is a powerful way to spread hope to those who need it most.
“Our lives begin to end the day we become silent about things that matter.”
“If you show people the problems and the solutions they will be moved to act.”
“Overcoming poverty is not a gesture of charity. It is the protection of a fundamental human right, the right to dignity and a decent life.”
“Progress is not about adding more to the abundance of those who have much; it is whether we provide enough for those who have too little.”
The Foundlings House
We just completed renovating the “foundlings” home, a building that houses children 0-6 years of age.
With your generous donations we were able to fix the roof, renovate the kitchen, add 3 bathrooms, rehabilitate the outside play area and purchase beds to assure that every child had a comfortable place to sleep.
